Personal Safety

Our children's personal safety is the main priority of Hall Green Infant and Nursery School.

In school we will use a range of material and strategies to teach the importance of personal safety for children

We have regular lessons and assemblies to teach children about safety at home and in school.

Our PSHE lessons are one of the main areas where danger and safety are discussed and children get the chance to voice concerns and ask questions to prepare them for different real life situations.

As part of PSHE and with the help of our friendly dinosaur Pantosaurus, PANTS is a simple way to talk to your child about staying safe from abuse and having the knowledge to know when something is wrong and they should tell an adult.

We are a rights respecting school and our curriculum is designed to ensure all our children know their rights as a child. The UNCRC consists of 54 articles that set out children’s rights and how governments should work together to make them available to all children.

Under the terms of the convention, governments are required to meet children’s basic needs and help them reach their full potential. Central to this is the acknowledgment that every child has basic fundamental rights. These include the right to:

  • Lifesurvival and development
  • Protection from violenceabuse or neglect
  • An education that enables children to fulfil their potential
  • Be raised by, or have a relationship withtheir parents
  • Express their opinions and be listened to.

As part of keeping children safe we explore keeping healthy with 'Healthy Me'. Below are some useful links for keeping children healthy.
