Owl Babies

Owl Babies

The children's learning has been based around the story Owl Babies by Martin Waddell. They have enjoyed listening to the story and using the puppets to retell it and have been exploring creatures and natural things we find in the woodland.  The children explored the leaves and their differing shapes and colours we had collected when making an owl face.  Some children made a nest for an owl using natural materials, we named and talked about the objects/creatures we could see and how things felt.  In maths we have been practising subitization skills (instant recognition of an amount) with quantities 1-3 and we have been learning about size using the words small, medium, big.
