Our Music Curriculum

At Hall Green Infant School we believe music is inclusive and accessible to all. We want children to develop a love of music through being exposed to different types of music: genres, composers and styles of music. We wish them to experience the sounds of different instruments through demonstrations and real-life experiences, where possible. We want to inspire our children to be creative by exposing them to high-quality teaching. We give our children the ability to develop skills to plan, practice, perform and evaluate their own and others' work.

Our children  develop the skills to be confident communicators, where they share ideas, plan independently and collaboratively, practice and feel confident performing and sharing their work and skills with others to develop a love of learning in Music. Through our Learning Adventure, there is a clear learning journey across year groups that ensures there is progression in skills and knowledge over the time a child is with us.

Our Music Curriculum

Our Music scheme of work is Charanga, a progressive, multi-genre scheme of learning where all children actively take part in singing, playing instruments, collaborating and composing music.

Rocksteady Music School visit our school weekly and give amazing musical learning opportunities for children to perform collaboratively in their very own band, complete with full-size instruments such as drums, bass, keyboard and electric guitar!

Do you want to see our fabulous Christmas singing performances? If so, click on the individual year group page to see the videos. On Year 2's page, as well as the year group, there is also a lovely video of our year group choir performance too.
