Autumn 1

Botanical Gardens

Our visit to the Botanical Gardens was a fantastic learning experience. The children were fascinated as they discovered how seeds grow and develop into plants. They explored the greenhouses, observing a diverse range of plant life, and had the exciting opportunity to meet animals such as a snake, a lizard, and spiders.

Care For Your Bear Day!

As part of our school value, Kind Me, the children brought in a teddy to love and care for. They thoroughly enjoyed looking after their bears and taking part in a variety of fun, bear-themed activities. A particularly special moment was sharing a fish and chips lunch with their teddy friends. The money raised through this lovely experience was donated to the Teddies Trust, helping to support a very special cause.

Mental Health Day

We celebrated Mental Health Day in school by wearing bright colours and enjoying a range of wellbeing activities. The children particularly loved the calming yoga sessions and mindful colouring, which helped create a relaxed and positive atmosphere. We shared meaningful discussions about our feelings and worked together to explore ways to support ourselves and others when we are feeling low.

School Library

Squirrels loved the opportunity to visit our very own school library and immerse themselves in the joy of reading. They had great fun choosing from a wide range of exciting stories and happily curled up to devour each book. The library was filled with enthusiasm as the children shared their favourite parts and discovered new stories to enjoy together.

Memory Boxes

As part of our history learning, the children created memory boxes filled with some of the most special and meaningful moments from their lives so far. It was wonderful to see the creativity and love that both the children and their parents put into each box, and to glimpse the treasured memories that have been cherished over the years. The children were full of excitement as they shared their memory boxes with one another.

Arts Week

During Arts Week, our theme was colour, shape, and pattern, inspired by the festival of Diwali. The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring their creativity in a variety of ways. They made beautiful clay diyas and decorated them with sparkling gems, crafted Diwali cards with moving parts, used chalk to create a stunning display of fireworks, and carefully designed intricate rangoli patterns.  Squirrels had so much fun throughout the week and really enjoyed letting their artistic flair shine!
