Lowry

This half term we have been learning all about the artist L.S. Lowry. Lowry is famous for painting picture of the industrial North and we have been comparing his artwork to the buildings and factories which we see in Birmingham. We have developed our own skills to draw and paint in the style of L.S. Lowry. We have used sketching pencils and learned how to smudge and use tone when drawing famous landmarks in Birmingham. We practised using drawing pens to draw matchstick people like Lowry uses on his art. We have used chalk pastels to recreate our own versions of Lowry's work. We have also used water colours to complete our own versions of Lowry's paintings. In the final week of school, we combined all of our skills to make our own paintings of Birmingham in the style of Lowry. We have absolutely loved our topic on Lowry and have really enjoyed looking at his paintings and developing our own art skills in his style. Have a look below at some examples of our work.
