At Hall Green Infant and Nursery School," we believe that Computing and new technologies should be embedded into all areas of teaching and learning, where appropriate, including ‘anytime learning’ through learning platforms. It should be used creatively to engage and enhance children’s experiences, in order to prepare them for future learning and life in an ever-changing world.”
One of "Our Aspirations" at Hall Green Infant and Nursery School is to 'be a whiz at using computers and new technologies'. We use a wide variety of ICT on a daily basis. Every classroom has an interactive whiteboard and a class computer. We use programmable toys such as 'bee bots,' every class has an iPad and iPod's. We also have a number of touch screen laptops in Reception through to Year 2.
Y1 children enjoy an Computing lesson once a week where they use the laptops to develop their computing and ICT skills.
Y2 teachers are currently planning for the use of the laptops within their teaching to help the children learn new computing and ICT skills as well as supporting the curriculum as a whole. Year Two have particularly enjoyed being creative by using Purple Mash software in their lessons.
The children regularly experience a range of educational software and the school has invested heavily in platforms for learning, via the school website. All children have access to 'Education City' software, Purple Mash and a range of activities through 'Promethean ActivInspire.'
The children enjoy learning a range of 'Key Skills and Knowledge' in Computing, inclcuding.......
*using and making sounds
