National Fitness Day & Raising Money for Libya/Morocco

 

Thank you parents for your kind donations. The children had a fabulous afternoon exercising and raising money for Libya and Morocco. 

Great Fire of London Workshop

 

Rupi Lal presented The Great Fire of London Workshop today. The children had a fabulous morning learning what Pudding Lane looked like in 1666. They especially enjoyed role playing the events that led to the great fire.

Care for your Bear Day 

The children brought into school their favourite teddy to look after for the day. This was linked to our value ‘caring’. They also brought in a donation of £1 to go to a charity called ‘Teddy Trust’. The Teddy Trust collects teddiws and soft cuddly toys from children around trhe UK and sends them to children who are less fortunate, such as children suffering the traumas of war or neglect. We had great fun spending the day with our teddies. They joined us for Phonics, Math's and even lunchtime!

Harvest Festival Assembly 

 

The children presented their Harvest Festival assembly to the parents today. They sang a song called Cauliflowers Fluffy. The children then explained the importance of Harvest Festival and the meaning.

D.T Fire Engine Challenge Workshop 

 

Today, the children participated in a Design and Technology Workshop linked to their work on the Great Fire of London. The aim of the workshop was to design and make a fire engine with a moving part which would help King Charles II to prevent a future fire!

Parents and children thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Forest School 

The children had an amazing day today at Forest School. They built dens, chopped wood for a fire, walked along a tightrope, played in the mud kitchen and enjoyed some bananas covered in melted chocolate!

Diwali

Today, the children learnt about which religions celebrate Diwali. We discussed when the festival is celebrated, how long it lasts and what Diwali means. The children created a card for someone at home and designed their own rangoli pattern. 

Children In Need

The children did lots of fun activities for Children In Need Day. They c designed their own Pudsey Bear and learned many facts about Children In Need. 

St Peter's Church Visit

Today, the children visited St Peter’s Church and were welcomed by Reverend Stephenson. He showed the children the different parts of the church such as the font, the chappal and the font and he explained what was done in each part. The children were given refreshments, which they thoroughly enjoyed. The children were given challenge cards which they had to place to the correct part of the church.

Christmas Jumper Day 

Today the children came in to school wearing their Christmas jumpers. The children donated £1 to help support the charity ‘Save the Children’.

Christmas Class Assembly 

Today the children presented their Christmas class assembly. They retold the ‘Christmas Story’ and how Christmas is celebrated around the world. They sang three songs, ‘Santa Clause is Coming to Town’ , ‘Starry Night’ and ‘We Wish You a Merry Christmas’.

Christmas 

It’s been a busy end to the Autumn Term and the children have enjoyed many of the Christmas activities they have participated in. Kingfisher’s performed their Christmas concert singing Feliz Navidad, The Christmas Conga, Starry Night and We Wish You A Merry Christmas. They made Christmas cards which had a moving part. The class produced some wonderful calendars linked to our Art topic this half term using watercolours. They had a memorable morning visiting Father Christmas followed by a Christmas party in the afternoon. On the last day of term, the children bought in their favourite toy from home and played with them. Well done Kingfisher’s it’s been a busy Autumn Term and you have all been amazing!
