Map Skills

In Learning Adventure todayyou will be learning about map skills based on the story "What the Ladybird Heard".

Have a look at the video below to watch the story "What the Ladybird Heard".

What the Ladybird Heard

Today you are going to be making a map. Have a look below at some examples of maps.

Last half term you created your own treasure map. Do you remember what it looked liked?

In the story "What the Ladybird Heard", the robbers used a map to try and find the cow.

Today you are going to make your own map.

What things could you draw on your map based on the story?

Here are some ideas to help you.

*Draw on the different homes for the animals and think about what else might be on the farm. E.g. trees, pond, flower beds and a tree house.

*Draw a path/route with arrows to get to get to the cow.

*Draw a cross to mark where the cow is/path ends.

*Use positional language to tell your family how to get to the cow - use words like: up, down, left, right, next to, near, under, behind, turn.
