Summer First Half Term

During the Summer first half term the focus will be on:-

  • To continue to enjoy being responsible for carrying out a simple task independently.
  • To continue to listen to a story with increasing attention and recall an event that has taken place in the story.
  • To continue to talk in more complex sentences to link thoughts (eg using and, because).
  • To continue to understand 'why' and 'how' questions.
  • To continue to hold a pencil near the point between the first two fingers and thumb and use it with good control.
  • To continue to independently use the toilet/wash our hands/blow our nose.
  • To zip up coat independently.
  • To continue Phonics Phase 1 - Rhythm and Rhyme/Alliteration/Voice sounds/Oral blending and segmenting.
  • To give meaning to marks as they draw, paint and write.
  • Continue Number - Counting sets of objects accurately/putting out a given number of objects/using mathematical vocabulary eg more/less/same/representing numbers in different ways eg drawing dots, lines, showing a number.
  • To continue to show an interest in number problems, to understand that a small group of objects can be separated in different ways and still total the same.
  • To begin to combine to groups of objects and find the total.
