Nursery Autumn Term 2020

A New Beginning in Nursery

Our main aim during Nursery in the initial weeks is to ensure that each child feels safe, settled and secure where they develop positive relationships and bonds with those around them. We understand that this year’s start will be very different, especially as the child is at home in their own settled environment.  But there are things you can do to prepare your child for the coming year.

Please click on the links below to find some very helpful information about preparing for and supporting your child in Nursery.

During the first term in Autumn the focus will be on:

  • Making relationships with adults and children/learning names/being together/social distancing.
  • Getting to know and using a new environment/resources and equipment/tidying up.
  • Using the toilet/washing our hands/blowing our nose/hygiene.
  • Making conversations/listening to each other/taking turns/sharing.
  • Phonics phase 1 – sound discrimination.
  • Number - selecting a small number of objects from a group when asked.
