National Online Learning Package and BBC online Learning
Whilst we have put together a comprehensive package of learning for our children at Hall Green we have found the Oak National Academy. This is an online school if you will that has been put together by the government. There are some nice lessons and good resources. We suggest you use this as additional learning at home and use it as and how you feel is best.
In addition, to support the hard work of schools in delivering remote education, the Oak National Academy has launched today (Monday 20 April). This brand-new enterprise has been created by 40 teachers from some of the leading schools across England, backed by government grant funding. It will provide 180 video lessons each week, across a broad range of subjects from maths to art to languages, for every year group from Reception through to Year 10.
The BBC is launching its own education package across TV and online, featuring celebrities and some of the best teachers – helping to keep children learning and supporting parents.
This is alongside new guidance published (Sunday 19 April) for parents on how best to support their child’s education and development.

DfE Online phonics lessons for Letters and Sounds - Reception and Year 1
During the summer term, you will be able to access for your child a daily phonics lesson by clicking on the Letters and Sounds for home and school link given in the attached document. Written and presented by phonics experts and funded by the Department for Education, the online lessons are designed to cover new phonics teaching that children would have received over the summer term had they been in school. All lessons are introduced by celebrities, including children’s TV presenters, which adds an exciting addition to the lessons.
A guidance film for parents to explain the basics of Phonics and how parents can support their child is also available.
From Monday 27 April, a new lesson will be uploaded Monday to Friday and each lesson will then be available to watch throughout the summer term.
