Investigating Number 7

Have a look at the rainbow above. 

How many colours do you see in the rainbow?

Can you paint or draw a rainbow? Try and write your numbers next to your rainbow too.

Can you make a rainbow using objects in your home? How many colours did you use?

Make a Number 7 Poster. What facts do you know about number 7? Here are a few to get you started......


  • 7 is one more than 6
  • 5 is one less than 6
  • 7 colours of the rainbow


Have a go at practising the formation of number 7. Remember to stick your sheet in your book.

You are now going to do some sorting just like with number 6. In the images below you have different representations of number 7. You have dots, fingers, cubes or dice. Remember to look and count carefully and sort the pictures into 7 and not 7.

Stick them down onto the right column on the sheet provided below and stick your sheet inside your book!
