The next 3 lessons children see that working systematically helps them to find all the possible number bonds to 20 They will use their knowledge of number bonds to 10 to find number bonds to 20 Using examples such as, 7 + 3, 17 + 3 or 7 + 13 encourages children to see the link between bonds to 10 and bonds to 20 and reinforces their understanding of place value. It is important that your child can partition a number, Can they say 17 has 1 ten and 7 ones. For this lesson children need to be able to add the ones in a number sentence and finally add the 10. It is important that your child can partition a number, Can they say 17 has 1 ten and 7 ones. For example, 17 + 2 = first solve 7 + 2 = 9 then do 10 + 9= 19. Work through the presentation slides.
