L.O – I can compare objects from the past.
Bluey – What object is this? -
Show objects from the past shown last week. Can the children guess what they were again? How would they feel using these objects today? Run through power point House hold items from the past. Instruct children to look at photographs of objects found in the household ‘then and now’. Task – In groups match the photograph objects to the now and then pictures. For example, a hot water bottle today matched with a hot water bottle from the past. After discuss the children’s findings. Take pictures for blurb for books. Children to label objects.
Purple Blue – Choose 2/3 objects and compare how they are different. Cut out the object and stick it in books and write a sentence to compare them– For example – The telephone from the past you had to turn the dial. Washing machine – A washing machine today washes clothes automatically.
Green – Choose 1/2 object and compare how they are different. Cut out the object and stick it in books and write a sentence to compare them– For example – Oven – An oven in the past you had to put coal inside it.
Red/ yellow – Split the page in half. Children to draw 2 objects they found interesting. Children to write the name of the object they have drawn – Green to write This is a telephone from the past, or this is a modern washing machine.
Plenary – This can be done during the activity to give children ideas. Children to share ideas and sentences they have produced.
