Primary Business Enterprise Challenge!

After the success of last years Enterprise Challenge Team - 'Flower Power at Hall Green Infant School' - this year we are pleased to announce that we will be launching a new business, set up and run by the children themselves, well with a little help from Ms Taylor and Miss Pearson...

This year our business is based on the theme of celebrating diversity and we are going to be preparing and cooking dishes from around the world.  We are going to ask children and parents to send a favourite recipe in to school, (perhaps something they enjoy at home or have eaten on holiday) and then ask each class to chose their favourite.  The team will then prepare the recipes to share with some taste testers during Health Week in June! We will then prepare the favourite dishes and serve them at a community lunch in July.

In line with our sustainablity charter, children from Reception have been growing vegetables that will be used in the preparation of the recipes, with other ingredients being sourced from local businesses.  Children from the enterprise team will also be consulting with businesses based in our local community, in order to conduct some very important market research!

The management team will comprise of 6 Reception children, who will take on the roles of: Managing Director, Quality Control, Project Manager, Secretary, Treasurer and Public Relations Officer!

Parents' Lunches!

It has been a real pleasure welcoming parents to share a school meal with their children.  Throughout the year, on separate ocassions, the parents of children in each year group have been invited to come to school during the lunch hour and eat with their child. We are really proud of the quality of our school dinners and the good manners of our children at lunchtimes and are sure that parents who have attended on these ocassions would agree that lunchtimes at HGIS are great!

School Meals and Lunchtime Provision Update!

Following consultation with a sample group of parents from each year group, it became clear that parents would like to know more about what their children are both eating, and doing at lunchtimes!  This update should provide some insight in to both of these areas and hopefully answer some of the questions about lunchtime provision that arose as a result of the consultation.
