Our visit to Birmingham council house awards presentation
Today Miss Tipler, Mrs Webb and 4 children from school were lucky enough to visit Birmingham council house to be presented with the 'Health for Life' and 'Be Healthy' awards that we have worked so hard to achieve.
The Health for Life programme supports primary schools in engaging their community in healthy active lifestyles and embeds the work in the school culture in a way that is sustainable. It is intended to increase pupils' knowledge and skills and effect changes in healthy lifestyle, attitudes and behaviour in 4 areas:- healthy cooking, growing food, physical activity and family involvement.
We were very excited to get a taxi there and when we arrived we were amazed at the beautiful council house building as we walked in!
We were very grown up drinking our water from a posh glass and sitting with lots of children from primary and secondary schools from around Birmingham.
We listened to talks from the host of the event AND the Deputy Lord Mayor. We also got to see a video of all the schools who took part in Health for Life to see what they have been up to and learn about some of their inventive initiatives.
Finally we were able to go up on stage and shake hands with the deputy Lord Mayor and receive both of our awards.
We are really proud of our achievements for this award at Hall Green Infant school and will continue to develop these each year.
Come and see the plaque and certificate we received on display in the Reception area.
A huge well done and congratulations to Miss Tipler who has worked extremely hard over the last year to lead this initiative and support the school to achieve this important award.
