The Healthy Schools Standard is currently a voluntary (although government recommended) award which all schools are invited to apply for. It is a comprehensive award which requires schools to provide evidence of achievement in 4 key health based areas; PSHE, Healthy Eating, Physical Activity and Emotional Health and Well Being.
We were awarded the Healthy Schools Standard in 2005 and The National Healthy Schools Award in 2008, the culmination of a lot of hard work by staff and children alike. It is now time to reapply so that the award can be renewed! To achieve this we have not only had to further develop and raise our already high standards in terms of our practice but also had to initiate and create new learning opportunities and experiences for children, including lunchtime provision and extra curricular activities.
An important part of achieving the standard is ensuring that the views of the whole school community are considered.
