The table above shows the ‘Average Point Score’ for children at our school, for each of the core subjects.  It highlights that we have consistently achieved outcomes well above National Average over the last four years during a time when our school has grown in size and expanded from three form to four form entry.  We are very proud of the outcomes our children have achieved by the end of Key Stage One, although this is only one piece of their story.  The children not only achieve well academically but have developed the necessary personal and social skills to enable them to be responsible members of the school and wider community.

Outcomes in Phonics

All Y1 children nationally undergo a Phonics Test in the second half of the Summer Term.  It tests their ability to read ‘real’ and ‘alien’ / made up words using their phonic knowledge.  Outcomes for 2016 are as follows,

Year 1 – 83% passed the phonics test compared to National Average (NA) of 77% in 2015.  No NA data is available yet for 2016.

Those children who do not pass the Year 1 Phonics Test complete a second test in Year 2.  Outcomes for 2016 are as follows,

Year 2 – 97.5% passed the Y1 Phonics Test by the end of Y2, compared to NA of 90% in 2015.  No NA data is available yet for 2016.

We strive to further improve these results as the DFE and OSFTED emphasise that children should use their phonic knowledge as the primary strategy to read unfamiliar words.

Early Years Foundation Stage Results

We are very proud of our achievements for the end of year Foundation Stage Profile results.  Over the last few years the school cohort continues to change ever year. In Foundation Stage we are significantly above National average results for children achieving a Good Level of Development and have also achieved above National consistently in all Areas of Learning. We moderate assessments internally and externally with several other schools to ensure consistency of assessments. In 2017, HGIS achieved 78.2% in Good Level of Development (not yet validated) compared to National(2016) 69.3%. This is 8.9% above the National 2016. We are proud of our pupils achievements in Early Years and prepare them well for readiness into Year One.

We will continue to prepare children for readiness into Key Stage One working in partnership with parents. We encourage children through our 'School Aspirations' to believe in themselves and follow their dreams.
